Jay-Roy Grot (born March 13, 1998 in Arnhem ) is a Dutch football player . He is under contract with Leeds United in England and plays on loan in his native country for Vitesse Arnhem .

Career

society

The center forward, born in Arnhem, the capital of the province of Gelderland , not far from the German border, began playing football at Midden Arnhemse Sportvereniging and switched via AVC Vitesse 1892 and ESA Rijkerswoerd to the Voetbal Academie NEC / FC Oss , the joint football school of the NEC Nijmegen and the FC Oss (now TOP Oss ). During the summer break of 2015 he received a professional contract with NEC Nijmegen and made his debut on August 12, 2017 in a 1-0 home win against Excelsior Rotterdam as a 17-year-old in the Eredivisie. This season he made ten appearances, but was otherwise used in the A-youth (U19) or in the second team. The professional team came in the league to a tenth place in the table. A season later he had - still as an A-youth - to book 20 appearances in the top division in the Netherlands, while Grot was in the starting lineup in 17 games. The Nijmegen had with the 16th place in the table in the promotion and relegation play-offs and reached the final round, in which the NEC Nijmegen was eliminated by NAC Breda and thus had to go to the second highest division in the Netherlands.

Jay-Roy Grot played in the second division , but in August 2017 he joined the second division Leeds United in England . In Leeds Grot did not get beyond the reserve role and so were at the end of the season 19 missions (one goal) to book, where he was substituted in 18 games. Jay-Roy Grot was also used twice in the EFL Cup and once in the FA Cup . After a year he was awarded to VVV-Venlo in his country of birth , where Grot came to 33 missions in the Eredivisie. He shuttled between the starting eleven and substitutes' bench. With twelfth place in the table, the Venloers managed to stay in the league. For the 2019/20 season it was awarded to Vitesse Arnhem in his hometown . Here, too, he was unable to establish himself in the starting XI and so Jay-Roy Grot had 22 games and two goals until the end of the season, which was due to the Corona crisis.

National team

With the U17 national team of the Netherlands , for which he played ten games and scored two goals, Jay-Roy Grot took part in the U17 European Championship 2015 in Bulgaria , where the Dutch were eliminated after the group stage. Grot was used in all three games. For the U19 national team , he played six games (one goal) and took part in the U19 European Championship 2017 in Georgia , in which the team was eliminated in the semi-finals against Portugal. Jay-Roy Grot was used in all games until he was eliminated. In the meantime he played a game for the U18 team . From 2017 to 2019 Grot played nine games for the U20 team . On November 16, 2018, he played for the U21 national team for the first time in a 3-0 test match against Germany in Offenbach am Main .
