Roy Johannes Hendricus Beerens (born December 22, 1987 in Bladel , Netherlands ) is a Dutch football player . He is currently playing for Vitesse Arnheim in his home country .

Career

Roy Beerens was in the youth academy of PSV Eindhoven before he was accepted into the professional squad of the red and whites for the 2005/06 season . On March 25, 2006 he made his debut in the top Dutch league. In the 3-0 win against Willem II Tilburg , Arouna Koné came on as a substitute. Three weeks later he made his home game debut at the Philips Stadium . The game against Feyenoord Rotterdam ended in a 1-1 draw. At the end of his first year as a professional, the Dutch championship was won. In the following season he scored his first competitive goal on October 20, 2006 against Roda Kerkrade . Bereens made its international debut on September 20, 2006 in the Champions League game against Girondins Bordeaux . Shortly before the end he was exchanged for Diego Tardelli . In order to give him more match practice, the club decided to go on loan. During the winter break of the 2006/07 season he moved to NEC Nijmegen . There he had regular assignments and received his first appointment for the Jong Oranje . However , he did not return to PSV . In the summer of 2007 Beerens signed a contract with SC Heerenveen . There he developed into a regular player and came in his first season on 28 missions and was able to score six goals. After four years with the Frisians, he signed a four-year contract with AZ in Alkmaar in August 2011 . In 2014 Beerens signed with Hertha BSC . In the 2015/16 season he was only used twice in the Bundesliga. In mid-July 2016, the Dutchman moved to the English second division FC Reading with coach Jaap Stam . A move to VfB Stuttgart had previously failed. The contract has a term of three years.

National team

For the U-21 European Football Championship in 2007 Beerens were nominated by national coach Foppe de Haan for the U-21 squad of the Netherlands . The team became European champions at the end of the tournament. Beerens was substituted on in the first round match against Portugal and in the semi-finals against England . In the penalty thriller against England, Beerens had to start twice from the point. Both times he sank the ball into the opposing goalkeeper's net. Beerens also played a 10-minute bet in the final.

He was appointed to the Dutch squad for the 2008 Summer Olympics .

After the 2010 World Cup , bond coach Bert van Marwijk Beerens called for the match in Donetsk on August 11, 2010 against Ukraine for the first time in the senior national team. Since the game was close to the World Cup final, van Marwijk had decided not to use the players who played at the World Cup. Beerens made his Oranje debut when he came on for Ricky van Wolfswinkel in the 70th minute . On November 15, 2011 he came to his second assignment in the "Elftal" in the 3-0 defeat against Germany in Hamburg.
