Armando Quintanilla

Armando Quintanilla ( Juan Armando Quintanilla Loredo; born April 19, 1968 in San Luis Potosí ) is a retired Mexican long-distance runner .

Athletic career

At the Athletics Central America and Caribbean Championships, he won over 5000 m in 1989 and 1991 .

In 1992 he came over 10,000 m at the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 16th place and was fifth at the World Cup in Athletics in Havana .

He also finished 14th over 10,000 m at the World Athletics Championships in 1993 in Stuttgart. In 1994 he won the Bolder Boulder and over 10,000 m at the Ibero-American Championships.

At the Pan American Games in Mar del Plata in 1995 , he managed a double victory over 5000 m and 10,000 m. He finished second in the Bolder Boulder.

In 1996 he won the Tokyo Half Marathon and the Carlsbad 5000 and came second in the Gasparilla Distance Classic . At the Olympic Games in Atlanta he was eleventh over 10,000 m.

In 1997 he finished second in the Tokyo Half Marathon. The following year he was eleventh in the Beppu-Ōita Marathon and won the Great Scottish Run .

In 1999 he won the Carlsbad 5000, was sixth in the Stramilano and second in each case at Bay to Breakers and Bolder Boulder.

In 2000, a victory in the Bogotá half marathon was followed by a preliminary round over 10,000 m at the Olympic Games in Sydney .

In 2003 he was fourth in the Maratón de la Comarca Lagunera and in the Bogotá half marathon.
