Armin Steinbach

Armin Steinbach (* 1978 or 1979 ) is a German lawyer and economist and author .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1998 at the Hamburg Christianeum , Steinbach studied law and economics at the Humboldt University of Berlin , at Harvard University and at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel . In 2003 he passed the first state examination in law , followed in 2004 with a degree in economics in Berlin and an LL.M. in Comparative and International Law in Brussels. In 2007 he was with the dissertation The liability of the EC and its Member States on WTO Law injuries from a legal and economic perspective at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich to Dr. iur. PhD . Steinbach passed the Second State Exam in Law in 2008. At the political science faculty of the University of Erfurt in the field of economics , the doctorate to Dr. rer. pole. with the dissertation Economic Policy Coordination in the Eurozone .

He worked as a lawyer in Brussels and as a consultant at the World Trade Organization (WTO). From 2009 to 2012 he worked as a consultant for network expansion in the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology . In 2012 and 2013 he was an economic policy advisor to Frank-Walter Steinmeier and a research fellow at the Center for European Studies at Harvard University . Since 2014 he has been a Gwilym Gibbon Fellow at Nuffield College at the University of Oxford and a Senior Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods . He conducts research in the fields of law, social and economic sciences, in particular international , European and constitutional law , energy and economic policy and economic analysis of law .

In the fall semester of 2015, Steinbach also took over the representation of the chair for Law and Economics, Legal Theory, International and European Law from Anne van Aaken at the University of St. Gallen . In addition to his position in Bonn and Oxford, he has also been a Jean Monnet Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence since 2016 . In 2017 he completed his habilitation at the University of Bonn with a thesis on Rational Legislation and was appointed as a private lecturer with the right to teach in the subjects of public law, European law, international law and legal economics. In the same year he took over the management of the economic policy policy department in the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy in Berlin and was offered a W3 professorship for public law at the Technical University of Braunschweig , which he refused.

Steinbach is the son of the Islamic scholar Udo Steinbach .
