Robert Twardy

Robert Twardy (born September 15, 1880 in Czarnen , Johannisburg district , † October 3, 1955 in Bad Reichenhall ) was a German geodesist and politician ( SPD ).

Life

The son of the landowner Gottlob Twardy and Emilie, b. Koß, attended a private school after completing elementary school and the Progymnasium in Rastenburg until 1900 , which he left as a senior prime minister . From 1900 to 1901 he was Landmessereleve in Johannisburg and from 1901 to 1904 he studied land surveying and cultural engineering at the Agricultural University in Berlin . In 1913 he passed the railway surveyor exam. Twardy worked from 1904 to 1905 as a surveyor for the government in Gdansk and from 1905 to 1906 he worked in the same position at the Königsberg and Kattowitz railway departments. From 1906 to 1908 he was a surveyor at the magistrate in Myslowitz and from August 1908 to December 1919 surveyor at the railway administration in Katowice.

Twardy was one of the founders of the Railway Officials Association in 1918 and was district chairman and chairman of the Katowice Civil Service Association until 1919. During the November Revolution he joined the SPD and was a member of the workers 'and soldiers' council in Katowice. From October 1919 he studied economics at the Berlin University . From January 1920 to December 1921 he worked as a surveyor at the Reichsbahndirektion Berlin and from December 1921 to 1928 at the Reichsbahndirektion Königsberg , most recently as senior official of the Reichsbahn .

Twardy ran in January 1919 unsuccessfully in the election to the German National Assembly in constituency 10 (administrative district Opole). From 1919 to 1921 he was a member of the Prussian State Constitutional Assembly . In February 1921 he was elected as a member of the Prussian state parliament, to which he was a member until 1922.

After the Second World War he lived in Hanover and worked for the Deutsche Bundesbahn , most recently as a Federal Railroad Councilor.

Robert Twardy married Mathilde Born, the brewer's daughter from Rybnik , in 1907 . The couple had three sons.
