biography
He was the son of the stonemason Martin Harnisch from Schupbach in the rule of Runkel , who also supplied Lahn marble , among other things for the tomb of Mainz Elector Georg Friedrich von Greiffenclau zu Vollrads († 1629).
Arnold Harnisch married the Mainz citizen daughter Katharina Schöffer in Mainz in the church of St. Ignaz in 1651 and was accepted as a citizen of Mainz in 1652. With Katharina he had a son. She died in 1655. At the end of the same year or beginning of 1656 he married again, Katharina Brick, daughter of the electoral baker Konrad Brick. He had twelve children with her between 1656 and 1680.
Arnold Harnisch was a member of the goldsmith's guild . In 1669 he was involved in removing his sculptor colleague Mathias Rauchmiller , who refused to qualify for the guild, from Mainz. Rauchmiller went to Vienna .
After the death of Arnold Harnisch in 1691, Katharina Harnisch lived in great poverty in Mainz.
