Arthur Thiele (engineer)

Arthur Thiele (born March 8, 1871 in Seifersdorf , Kr. Schweidnitz , Lower Silesia ; † December 3, 1961 in Berkum , Bonn district ) was a German industrial manager and university professor .

Life

From the summer semester of 1893, Thiele studied metallurgy at the TH Berlin . In 1893 he became a member of the Corps Borussia Berlin . He was an award-winning Chargierter .

He did his military service from 1891 in the well-known Uhlan regiment "von Katzler" (Silesian) No. 2 in Gleiwitz . Associated with the regiment, he was promoted to lieutenant in the reserve in 1898, in 1907 to first lieutenant in the reserve and in 1913 to Rittmeister of the reserve. His professional career in the meantime did not result in his employment in the Landwehr cavalry, rather from medals that he was "head of the military factories of the Libau governorate" in 1916 and "chief manager of the mining and steelworks administration" in Hayange (Hayingen) in Lorraine in 1916 .

From 1900 to 1920 he worked in German heavy industry, most recently from 1919 as technical director general of the Bismarckhütte in Upper Silesia . From 1921 to 1923 he was director of the German Association of Technical and Scientific Associations in Berlin . In 1921 the Schlesische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Breslau awarded him the Dr. Ing. E. h. From 1924 he was a scientific expert for a Reich authority in Russia . From 1927 to 1939 he headed the internship office of the German Technical Universities - Internship Office Dortmund .

In December 1927, the TH Hannover asked the Prussian Minister for Science, Art and Public Education to appoint Thiele as honorary professor . On the one hand, the internship office and Thiele's work there should be promoted; on the other hand, the aim was to establish a closer connection between Thiele and the specialist professors, which would benefit the development of the internship office. By letter from the Ministry of February 28, 1928, Thiele was appointed honorary professor in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the TH Hannover.
