Arthur Yancey Wear (born March 1, 1880 in St. Louis , Missouri , † November 6, 1918 in Pouilly , France ) was an American tennis player .

Arthur Wear, who studied at Yale University , played on several baseball teams there, but was never listed as a tennis player. Nevertheless, he played at the 1904 Summer Olympics in his hometown of St. Louis together with his compatriot Clarence Gamble in men's tennis doubles . They won the bronze medal after they were defeated in the semifinals to the later Olympic champions Edgar Leonard and Beals Wright with 1: 6 and 2: 6. His older brother Joseph , with another partner, also took third place.

After graduating from Yale, he worked in his family's dry food business until the outbreak of World War I. He commanded an infantry unit at the Battle of St. Mihiel in 1918. Although he was not really surprised, his health deteriorated. He refused treatment for a suspected gastric ulcer and eventually died during the Meuse-Argonne offensive .
