Arthur G. "Sleepy" Wright (born May 15, 1937 ; † July 2015 ) was an American rhythm & blues and studio musician ( guitar , arrangement ), who also worked as a songwriter and music producer .

Live and act

Wright began his career as a guitarist and backing vocalist in various doo-wop groups in the Los Angeles area . During his high school days he formed his own band in 1953. In the following years he played with Roy Milton , Sam Cooke , Don Julian and Johnny Otis . Wright, who has participated in over 5,000 recording sessions over the course of his career, worked a. a. with Smokey Robinson , The Supremes , Ray Charles , The Friends of Distinction , Jimmy Witherspoon , The Righteous Brothers , The Jackson 5 , Billy Preston , Bettye Swann , The Emotions , Little Richard , Stevie Wonder , The 5th Dimension , Donna Summer , Jose Feliciano , Ike & Tina Turner , Eddie "Cleanhead" Vinson , Marvin Gaye ( Let's Get It On ) and The Temptations . He was a member of the band The Wright Bros. Flying Machine . As an arranger he worked a. a. also for Jimmy Lewis and Biff Rose ; He also wrote the songs "It's a Sad Song", "Shut Out" and "Tree Of Love".
