Asbjørn Haugstvedt

Asbjørn Haugstvedt (born November 20, 1926 in Bergen , Fylke Hordaland ; † June 26, 2008 ) was a Norwegian politician of the Kristelig Folkeparti , who was a member of the Storting for 16 years, president of the Odelsting from 1977 to 1981 and minister for between 1983 and 1986 Commerce and shipping was in the government of Prime Minister Kåre Willoch .

Life

Professional career and local politician

Haugstvedt, son of the warehouse manager Ingvald Haugstvedt and his wife Hilma Ovidia Michelsen, began his professional activity as an office assistant at the Bergen power station after completing secondary school in 1943 and attending commercial school for one year. He worked there until 1959 and later became an accountant before he became deputy head of the company's punch card department after attending the IBM school in 1956. After attending social law courses in Norway, Sweden and Finland , he became an inspector at the Bergen Social Welfare Office in 1961 and held this position until 1969.

In addition to his professional activity, Haugstvedt began his political career in local politics in Bergen at the end of the 1950s and was a member of the Bergen City Council between 1959 and 1963 and again from 1969 to 1971. In the meantime he was from 1964 to 1969 chairman of the KrF parliamentary group in the city council and as such also a member of the city council (Bergen Formannskap) . He was also chairman of the board of the Bergener Hotell Neptun between 1963 and 1975 .

In 1969 Haugstvedt became a member of the central board of the Kristelig Folkeparti and belonged to it until 1975, where he was also the second vice-chairman of the KrF between 1971 and 1975.
