action

The single mother Angelika Wettstein sits at the breakfast table with her children Stefan, Beatrice, Nadine, Sebastian, Christine and Stefanie and introduces her family. She married in 1973 and divorced in 1988. During this time she did not work and had to find another job after the divorce. The condition was that it was near her apartment and so she applied in the Pappelallee department store in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg . Here she earns between 800 and 900 marks as a cashier, plus 750 marks in child benefit and 570 marks in alimony . That is enough for her and her children to live on, but she cannot save anything from it. If new purchases are necessary, this will be discussed with everyone. Sometimes that does not work out right, for the last proposed new shoe closet had a Alf from plush fall victim to the wanted buy it for 106 Mark necessarily for their children.

She likes working in the department store. The only thing that annoys them is that some of the customers let their frustration out on her when some items are out of stock, because she didn't cause the shortage. Ms. Wettstein also notes that the cashiers have to work the most and if there is a shortfall in the cash register, it can happen that they receive a deduction at the end of the month. But the work also has the advantage that you sometimes get hold of rarities that are otherwise rarely on offer. But she only buys them for her family and not for acquaintances, as some of her colleagues do. If your children have questions or need something, they visit their mother at the checkout. There they also get brief instructions from time to time, which is why Angelika does not interrupt the checkout. The rest of her family's daily routine is strictly organized and works because the children can do a lot on their own.

Angelika proudly tells that her son, a talented football player, was invited to a tournament in Beijing with a Berlin school team. The gifts received there are also mentioned. When asked whether she would like to travel someday, she replies that she would like a trip within the GDR or a trip on the dream ship, but the Arkona only goes to Cuba , she states.
