The Aselbach (also called the Asel ) is a 6.55 km long, northern and orographically left tributary of the Eder and the Edersee within the Vöhler municipality in the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg , Hesse ( Germany ). Its catchment area is 18.103 km².
course
The Aselbach rises north of the Marienhagen part of Vöhl . Its source is located on the southern flank of the Moseberg ( 397.8 m above sea level ) at around 390 m above sea level.
Initially, the Aselbach flows east through agricultural areas and passes the “Tief Schneid” farm at 328.3 m above sea level. The creek then turns south and runs through the center of the municipality of Vöhl, then flows north below and then east of the Asel part of the municipality, which it does not flow through, through a deeply cut valley lined with forest.
About 200 m after it has taken up the Altbach (3.1 km long) coming from the north-east of the Basdorf municipality , the Aselbach flows between Asel and its Asel-Süd district about 700 m north of the "Asel village" (the old one flooded by the reservoir Settlement) in a north arm of the Edersee through which the Eder flows .
Not far from the Aselbach estuary, near the exit of the original brook valley in the reservoir, there is the “Aseler Bridge”, which can be seen when the water is low.
