Aslanbek Germanowitsch Bissultanow ( Russian Асланбек Германович Бисултанов ; * 1956 in the Jambul region , Kazakh SSR ; † 2001 ) was a Soviet wrestler . He was world and European heavyweight champion in free style in 1977.

Career

Aslanbek Bissultanov, a Chechen, started wrestling in Grozny in 1967 . He soon showed his great talent as a freestyle wrestler and achieved excellent results in the national field even as a youth. In Grozny he was trained by Degi Bagajew, who ensured that Aslanbek Bissultanov was one of the few Chechen freestyle wrestlers alongside the Ossetian and Dagestani wrestlers, who then as now determined the level of freestyle wrestlers in the former Soviet Union and today in Russia . could exist.

In 1974 and 1976 in Haparanda and Poznań, respectively, he became European heavyweight champion (class up to 100 kg body weight) and in 1975 in Haskovo even world heavyweight champion.

In 1977 he was the first Soviet senior heavyweight champion. At the subsequent European Championships in Bursa , he continued his streak of success seamlessly, because he was European champion there in convincing style. With Mehmet Güclü from Turkey , Tomasz Busse from Poland , Valentin Petrow from Bulgaria and Harald Büttner from the GDR he defeated four world class wrestlers. He was just as successful a few months later at the 1977 World Cup in Lausanne . He defeated there u. a. Alireza Soleimani from Iran , Chorloogiin bayan monk from Mongolia , Vasile Puşcaşu from Romania and again Harald Büttner and became world champion.

1978 and 1979 finished Aslanbek Bissultanow at the Soviet heavyweight championship in each case the 2nd place behind Ilya Fyodorowitsch Mate and was not used in international championships. The further course of his career was then characterized by the fact that a large number of world-class wrestlers were present in the heavyweight division in the Soviet Union at that time. Ivan Jarygin , Ilya Fyodorowitsch Mate, Salman Hasimikow , Magomed Magomedow and Lewan Tediaschwili , all wrestlers who were either Olympic champions or world champions , built him further successes on the international wrestling mat.
