The Asso is a 38 km long river ( Torrente ) in the Tuscany region of Italy, which crosses the province of Siena from north to south and flows into the Orcia at Ripa d'Orcia (district of Castiglione d'Orcia ) as a right tributary .

The river, called Haxo by the Etruscans and Axus by the Romans, rises south of Asciano and northwest of Trequanda in the Crete Senesi and initially flows south to San Giovanni d'Asso (district of Montalcino ). Then he arrives at Lucignano d'Asso, where the Trove flows in from the left and from Montisi . Then it reaches the hamlet of Torrenieri , after which it flows to San Quirico d'Orcia . The left tributary Tuoma is added between the two places . Further south in the local area of Castiglione d'Orcia , the Asso flows into the Orcia as a right tributary at Ripa d' Orcia .
