Atargatis is a symphonic metal - band from Germany . The group's singer, Stephanie Luzie, is also known from the Austrian symphonic metal band Darkwell .

history

The group was founded in 1997 in Regensburg as a death metal band. In 1999 the demo Alba Gebraich appeared , which has little in common with today's style of the band.

After some line-up changes, the band took on the two demos Accurst from the Deep and Divine Awakening . The male vocal parts on Divine Awakening were done by Stefan Fiori, the singer of Graveworm . They published their song Angels Crying by Divine Awakening in 2004 on mp3.de , where it was continuously represented in the top 10 for several years . The band ended their collaboration with mp3.de in 2006. In 2005 Atargatis opened the Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig .

On March 24, 2006, Atargatis released the debut album Wasteland on Massacre Records . On this album Tialupa played the violin , Moritz Neuner percussion and alto flute and Stefan Hertrich from Darkseed acted as guest singer . The album was recorded in Helion Studios (Munich) and produced by Seref Alexander Badir (The Helions) and mastered by Alexander Krull , the singer of Atrocity , in Mastersound Studio . At the end of 2006 Atargatis was on tour in Germany with Crematory and in early 2007 with Illuminate .

On November 16, 2007, Nova , Atargatis' second album, was released. Guitarist Azmo left the band and was replaced by Maximilian Schulz, from whom the band separated after the tour in 2008 for personal and musical reasons. Former guitarist Azmo helped out at the concert at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen 2009. On June 21, 2009 Atargatis filled the guitar position with Artur Vladinovskij from Latvia .

This was followed by more than three years of stage abstinence with a “creative” break. From 2012 there were again appearances with the line-up Stephanie Luzie (vocals), Lord Lornhold (bass, vocals), Azmo (guitar) and Shadrak (drums).

style

The name of the band comes from the Syrian fertility and mother goddess Atargatis . The lyrics are all written by the singer Stephanie Luzie. The female vocal parts alternate with male vocals.
