Au (Münchsmünster)

The Einöde Au is a district of the municipality Münchsmünster in the district of Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm in Upper Bavaria .

location

The place where an estate is operated is between the communities Münchsmünster and Pförring , in the wide plains of the Danube valley in a meadow landscape. The manor is located directly on the river Ilm . The Danube flows in a north-westerly direction past the place at a distance of one kilometer. Regensburg is about 55 kilometers to the east and Ingolstadt 25 kilometers to the west. Munich is about 90 kilometers south of the town.

history

The place in the Middle Ages one of up existing five farms hamlet was first documented in 1284, when Bishop Henry II of Regensburg the monastery Münchsmünster two parts of the tithe to "Au", which the parish Pförring belonged handed. In fact, the place is likely to be many centuries older. The medieval name of the hamlet was "villa in der Aw in parochia Pferdein" (= village of Au in the parish of Pförring). In the 18th century, Baron Stralheim acquired the land and farmsteads, which he transformed into a comfortable country residence. The chronicler Pater Erhard, who visited the Au estate in 1910, described it as a “noble estate”.

A small chapel was built opposite the estate in 1860 to commemorate the earlier farmsteads.
