August Blankenstein (born September 20, 1876 in Riemke near Bochum , † October 4, 1931 in Düsseldorf ) was a German genre painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

August Blankenstein attended the Düsseldorf Art Academy in 1891 and 1892 . There was Heinrich Lauenstein his teacher. He also took private lessons with the Düsseldorf portrait and genre painter Franz Thöne and with Eduard Gebhardt . From 1909 to 1931 he was a member of the Malkasten artists' association . As a member of the Düsseldorf Artists' Association , he had a studio in the Künstlerhaus on Sittarder Strasse.

In addition to genre pictures, he also painted pictures of religious content.
