August Braun (politician)

Johann August Braun (born October 21, 1820 in Hersfeld ; † September 28, 1879 there ) was a politician and member of the Reichstag .

Live and act

August Braun attended high school in Hersfeld, the higher vocational school in Kassel and then studied natural sciences in Berlin . Then he worked as a cloth manufacturer in the Hersfeld area. Braun was a leading member of the Hersfeld trade and industry association. He was also a member of the city council and the board of directors of the Hersfeld citizen school.

From 1862 to 1866 Braun was a member of the Hessian Estates Assembly . Furthermore, since 1867 he was a deputy for the district assembly of Hersfeld and a member of the Hessian municipal parliament .

August Braun was a member of the Constituent Reichstag and from 1867 to 1870 the Reichstag of the North German Confederation . From 1871 to 1874 Braun represented the constituency of Kassel 6 (Hersfeld - Rotenburg - Hünfeld), which had already elected him in 1867, in the German Reichstag . There he belonged to the National Liberals. Braun was also elected to the Prussian House of Representatives in constituency 6 of Kassel for sessions 10 to 12, 1867 to 1876. There, too, he was a member of the National Liberals.
