August Ernst Braun

August Ernst Braun (born June 27, 1783 in Köslin , † September 19, 1859 ibid) was a German lawyer, politician and mayor of Köslin.

Life

August Ernst Braun studied law at the University of Halle from 1800 to 1803 . He then worked as an auscultator at the Higher Regional Court in Köslin. After the occupation of Western Pomerania by the French in 1806, he was removed from office because he refused to take the oath of homage to Napoleon Bonaparte . From 1807 to 1813 he worked as a judicial officer in Neustettin . As a volunteer he joined the Lützow Freikorps in 1813 and took part in the Wars of Liberation until 1814 , most recently as an officer.

In 1816 August Ernst Braun was elected mayor of Köslin. Re-elected several times, he remained in this office until the end of his life. He was also the magistrate and police director. Since 1824 he was a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Pomerania .

In 1848 Braun was elected to the Frankfurt National Assembly for the 4th constituency of the province of Pomerania ( Köslin ) . There he joined the casino . In 1850 he was a member of the Erfurt parliament .

He was awarded the title of Privy Councilor in 1854 .
