August Johann von Hahn (born February 21, 1722 in Meiningen ; † April 18, 1788 in Karlsruhe ) was from 1769 to 1788 President of the Council of the Margraviate of Baden-Durlach and the reunified Margraviate of Baden .

Life

Hahn was the son of the Privy Councilor Heinrich Gottfried von Hahn, who was in the service of the Duchy of Saxony-Coburg-Meiningen . His mother was Eleonora Ernestina von Wolzüge .

Hahn entered the service of the margraviate of Baden-Durlach in 1749 and was appointed councilor in 1752. In 1759 he became vice president of the government. With Johann Jacob Reinhard he was involved in the negotiation of the inheritance contract between the margraviate of Baden-Durlach and the margraviate of Baden-Baden (1759 to 1765). In 1768 he became the Real Privy Councilor and shortly afterwards he succeeded the late Hofrat President Friedrich Johann Emich von Üxküll-Gyllenband . From 1775 he held the title of "First Minister". Hahn was also the ambassador of the Margraviate to the Swabian District in Ulm and led Baden's negotiations to join the Princes' League (1785).
