During the revolution of 1848 Naundorff was considered a democratic officer. His depiction, Unter dem rothen Kreuz, from 1867 dealt with military nursing . The magazine Der Collector ruled: “The book does the greatest honor to the heart and the scientific education of its author and is in the initially involved circles of physicians, Johanniter and all Others who devote themselves to charitable works have been recognized as the best work of its kind. ”The pacifist Bertha von Suttner described it as a“ harrowing book ”.
