August butcher
August Metzger (born August 19, 1832 in Hildesheim , † January 20, 1917 in Hann. Münden ) was a German forest zoologist.
Life
Metzger studied zoology at the Friedrichs-Universität Halle and the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen . In Göttingen he became a member of the Corps Luneburgia in 1855. After taking the state examination in 1856 and becoming a Dr. phil. He was a teacher in Goslar , Einbeck , Norden and Göttingen. In 1869 he went to the Hanover Polytechnic as a teacher of zoology and botany . Appointed professor of zoology in 1873 , he went to the Royal Prussian Forest Academy in Hannoversch Münden . In addition to office he was inspector of the province of Hannover . In 1904, at the age of 72, he became a Geh. Councilor emeritus .
