August Olfenius

August Olfenius (born January 10, 1822 in Weilburg , † May 23, 1894 in Wiesbaden ) was a German administrative lawyer, Landesbank director and member of parliament.

Life

Olfenius was the son of the Nassau customs inspector August Olfenius. He studied law and passed the first state examination in 1843. He was then an official advisor in the Braubach office in 1844 and in 1846 at the court and appeal court of Usingen . After passing the 2nd state examination in 1947, he worked at the Wiesbaden Justice Office .

On April 9, 1849, he married in Biebrich Johanna Friederike Charlotte, born Maurer (born September 2, 1823 in Hachenburg, † December 1895 in Wiesbaden), the daughter of the court cook Johann Anton Theodor Maurer.

Between 1849 and 1852 he worked for the Nassau General Domain Administration, which was incorporated as a department in the Ministry of Finance . In 1852 he became a secretary and in 1853 an assessor. After assuming the duties of the finance college, he became assessor there in 1854 and senior tax councilor in 1860. In 1861 he switched to the recipe in the Runkel office as a recipe officer with the title of senior tax councilor .

After the annexation of the Duchy of Nassau by Prussia , the recipes were dissolved in 1868 and Olfenius moved to the Nassauische Landesbank as board member of the Landesbank . There he became acting conductor in 1870 and was director from 1872 until his death in 1894.

From 1886 to 1892 he represented the Wiesbaden district in the Nassau municipal parliament , where he was a member of the finance committee.
