August von Goldbeck

Karl August Julius von Goldbeck (born February 13, 1792 in Mörs , † April 25, 1864 in Erfurt ) was a Prussian major general and commander of the 3rd Infantry Brigade .

Life

August was the son of the Privy Council of War and director of the Admiralty College in Geldern , Hans Christoph von Goldbeck (1735-1828) and his second wife Susanne Cornelia Johanna, née Bergius (1753-1806).

Military career

Goldbeck visited the Berlin cadet house , was hired as a non-commissioned officer in the 1st Pomeranian Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army on February 25, 1810 , and was promoted to second lieutenant until the beginning of April 1811 . During the campaign against Russia in 1812 he fought in the siege of Riga and in the battles near Eckau and Kyopen. In the ensuing war of liberation Goldbeck took part in the battles near Lüneburg , Zesch , Thießen, Lier, Hoogstraaten, Großbeeren , Leipzig and the sieges of Wittenberg, Wesel, Maubeuge and Philippeville. For Mölln he was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd class.

After the war Goldbeck rose to captain and company commander by mid-May 1828 . From October 2, 1836 to March 29, 1837 he was in the 20th Infantry Regiment . He was then appointed commander of the 2nd Battalion in the 32nd Landwehr Regiment while being promoted to major . This was followed from November 3, 1842 to March 21, 1845 as commander of the 2nd Battalion in the 12th Landwehr Regiment. Goldbeck was then promoted to the 12th Infantry Regiment and at the end of March 1847 to lieutenant colonel. On June 6, 1848 he was appointed commander of the 6th Infantry Regiment . At the same time, Goldbeck acted from October 17, 1848 to July 9, 1850 as director of the United Division School of the V Army Corps . On April 15, 1852, he was appointed commander of the 3rd Infantry Brigade and on May 15, 1852, he was placed à la suite of the 6th Infantry Regiment. In this position he received the Order of the Red Eagle III on September 14, 1852 . Class with a bow and advanced to major general on March 22, 1853. Goldbeck took his on March 10, 1855 farewell with board . He died on April 25, 1864 in Erfurt.

On July 25, 1829 Goldbeck married Emilie Wachenhusen (1809-1887) in Stettin . The couple had several children:
