Wilhelm Ludwig August Freiherr von Hanstein-Knorr (* 23. August 1803 , † 28. April 1878 ) was a Kurhessischer State, Chamberlain and upper control director.

August was a son of the Hessian Minister of State Carl von Hanstein (1772–1861) and his wife Wilhelmine, nee Freiin von Haynau (1783–1866), a natural daughter of Landgrave Wilhelm IX. von Hessen-Kassel and the Rosa Dorothea Ritter . His brother Edmund (1808-1887) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

family

Hanstein married Emma Freiin von Knorr (1807–1876) on June 3, 1838 , heiress of the Sollstedt manor . She was a daughter of the Prussian lieutenant colonel a. D. Sittig von Knorr on Sollstedt and Breitenbich, and Friederike von Laure. The marriage had three children:

After the death of his father-in-law, Hanstein received the electoral consensus on the association of names and coats of arms, thereby establishing the Hanstein-Knorr line. The same was done with his brother-in-law Wilhelm von Wintzingerode, who was now called Wilhelm von Wintzingerode-Knorr .
