family

Wilhelm von Wintzingerode-Knorr was the son of the Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel Chamberlain and Chief Forester Wilhelm Carl August von Wintzingerode . The mother was Marie Sophie Agnes Philippine Auguste nee Freiin von Haynau (born September 11, 1785, † April 21, 1865). She was the natural (illegitimate) daughter of Elector Wilhelm I and his second mistress , Rosa Dorothea Ritter . Wilhelm von Wintzigerode-Knorr, who was a Protestant denomination, was married three times:

  1. He married on September 12, 1827 in Adelsborn Antoinette Caroline Sophie von Wintzingerode (born December 1, 1809 in Adelsborn, † January 8, 1835 in Wehnde), the daughter of the captain and gentleman on Adelsborn, Ernst von Wintzingerode.
  2. He married on May 16, 1837 in Sollstadt Clara Josephine von Knorr (born November 11, 1810 in Sollstadt, † September 15, 1850 in Mühlhausen), the daughter of Sittig von Knorr . With Sittig von Knorr, the Thuringian noble family Knorr died out in its original homeland and this name variant in the male line. Sittig von Knorr was Herr auf Sollstedt and Breitenbich, in 1837 administrator of the district office in Mühlhausen and in 1839 a member of the provincial parliament of the province of Saxony .
  3. He married on June 3, 1852 in Unterstein Maria Cäcilie Natalie Caroline Freiin von Hanstein (born September 20, 1821 in Marburg an der Lahn; † February 4, 1908 in Wehnde), the daughter of Carl Philipp Emil von Hanstein .

The Prussian baron status confirmation is dated August 22, 1830. Since Sittig von Knorr had remained without male descendants, his two daughters inherited. For the sons-in-law August von Hanstein-Knorr and Wilhelm von Wintzingerode-Knorr, the Prussian name and coat of arms association to -Knorr took place on September 24, 1836.

Levin von Wintzingeroda-Knorr and Sittig von Wintzingeroda-Knorr are sons from their first marriage.
