Augustine Ndubueze Echema

Augustine Ndubueze Echema (born December 28, 1958 in Ohuhu Nsulu , Nigeria ) is a Nigerian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Aba .

Life

Augustine Ndubueze Echema first attended the boys' seminary in Okpala and then studied from 1978 to 1986 at the seminaries in Ikot Ekpene and Enugu . On August 16, 1986, he received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Owerri .

After his ordination he worked as an educator at the boys' seminary in Okpala until 1988. After another year as a pastor, he studied liturgical science from 1989 to 1994 at the Philosophical-Theological University of Sankt Georgen in Frankfurt am Main , where he was awarded a Dr. theol. received his doctorate . From 1994 to 1995 he was pastor in Schwalbach in the Limburg diocese . After his return home, he was liturgy lecturer at the Catholic Institute of West Africa in Port Harcourt from 1996 . He also headed the liturgy commission of the Archdiocese of Owerri and was pastor of the Provincial Lay Council of Owerri.

On December 28, 2019, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Aba. The Apostolic Nuncio in Nigeria, Archbishop Antonio Filipazzi , donated him episcopal ordination on February 13 of the following year . Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Owerri, Anthony John Valentine Obinna , and the Archbishop Fortunatus Nwachukwu , Apostolic Nuncio in the Caribbean , who came from the Diocese of Aba .
