Augustinus Bludau
Augustinus Bludau (born March 6, 1862 in Guttstadt , Warmia , † February 9, 1930 in Frauenburg ) was a Catholic theologian and bishop of Warmia .
Life
The native son of a master tailor attended high school in Elbing and studied from 1883 at the Lyceum Hosianum in Braunsberg, initially philosophy and from the winter semester 1884/85 theology. There he became an active member of the Catholic student union Warmia in the KV . On March 13, 1887, he was ordained a priest in Frauenburg and was initially chaplain in Marienwerder for two years . From 1889 to 1891 he continued his theological studies in Münster , which he obtained with a doctorate in the form of Dr. theol. completed. In 1894 he was sub-rain of the seminary and prefect at the episcopal boys' convent in the Lyceum Hosianum. In 1895 he was appointed associate professor for New Testament exegesis and in 1899 as full professor for New Testament at the University of Münster .
On November 26, 1908, the cathedral chapter elected him Bishop of Warmia. He received the episcopal ordination on June 20, 1909 by the Apostolic Vicar of the Saxon Hereditary Lands , Aloys Schäfer , in the Frauenburg Cathedral . With consecrators of were Bishop of Kulm , Augustine Rosentreter , and the Warmia Bishop Edward Herrmann .
Bludau was also scientifically active as a bishop, as far as his office allowed. From 1907 he was co-editor of the Theological Review and from 1908 of the New Testament treatises . In addition, was an enthusiastic member of the KV . He took over board positions at his original connection in Braunsberg and gave lectures there. Later he also became an honorary philistine of the Königsberg KV connections K.St.V. Borussia and K.St.V. Tannenberg.
Augustinus Bludau was buried in the Szembeck Chapel of the Frauenburg Cathedral.
