↑ Division II |
The Austrian Football Division Three (Division III) is the fourth highest division in American football in Austria and is held under the responsibility of the American Football Association Austria (AFBÖ). Division III is played exclusively on an amateur basis . The champion and winner of the Challenge Bowl is entitled to play a relegation game for promotion with the last placed in Division II . The last-placed player plays a relegation game for relegation against the winner of Division IV .
Game mode
In 2012 the league was founded with 2 conferences of 4 teams each. The two group best of the conferences then played the play-offs. The winners from it then played the Challenge Bowl. In 2014 the league was expanded to 4 conferences of 4 teams each. Since a new league was founded in 2015 with Division IV, some teams were downgraded from Division 3 and the league was reduced to 2 conferences of 4 teams each. In 2019 the league will consist of 10 teams in 2 conferences, each of which will play 8 games in the basic round.
Clubs in Austria must prove the ability (financial as well as organizational nature) of the team when the Austrian American Football Association is founded. In addition to a conversation with the association, this also includes 3 test matches as a non-league team.
