Autoceļš A4 is one of Latvia's state highways "State Main Road" ( Lat .: Valsts galvenie A utoceļi ). It leads from a motorway junction with the A1 and A2 roads outside Riga to a motorway triangle with the Latvian A6 near Salaspils . The A4 is part of the European routes 67 and 77 . The A4 is known as the Riga's eastern bypass .
The total length is 20.4 kilometers. Since the road is currently equipped with one lane in each direction, the maximum speed is 90 km / h. By the end of 2012, half of its total length is to be developed as a motorway-like road with two lanes per lane. Construction work began in 2011. There are also plans to fully expand and modernize the A4. However, this is not expected before 2014. The average traffic volume is 7026 vehicles per day in 2011.
