Autoceļš A2 is one of Latvia's state highways "State Main Road" ( lett . Valsts galvenie A utoceļi ). It leads from Riga via Ape and then on to the border with Estonia and is part of the European route 77 .
Current situation
The section from Riga to Sēnīte has been developed with a total of four lanes and two lanes . The remainder of the section is currently only a road with one lane in each direction and one lane.
The A2 is one of the first roads in Latvia to be built with four lanes. But it is also one of the slowest roads in the country, especially on the section from Riga to Sigulda . The top speed there is 90 km / h.
The section from the motorway junction with the A1 to the motorway junction with the A3 is currently being modernized by 2015. The motorway is to be expanded so that the maximum speed on this section can be increased to 110 km / h.
The average traffic volume is 9686 vehicles per day in 2011.
The continuation in Estonia is the national road Põhimaantee 7 .
