Automic Software (formerly UC4 Software) is an international software company that specializes in enterprise job scheduling and workload automation. The company develops specific solutions and products in this area, which are mostly used in larger companies. For example, it automates the tasks of ongoing invoicing by energy suppliers, automates background and payment processes in online retail, or orchestrates IT housekeeping and backup processes. history

The company was founded in 1985 as SBB Software in Austria and introduced the first heterogeneous job scheduler in 1996. In March 2004 the company renamed UC4 Software.

After opening branches in Europe and the USA, the Carlyle Group became majority shareholder in UC4 in 2006. In 2007, UC4 merged with AppWorxCorp and integrated their Large Enterprise Scheduler.

In 2009, UC4 Software took over Vienna-based SENACTIVE. SENACTIVE used the processing of complex business events, pattern mapping and extended visualization tools and combined them with the functionality of UC4's workload automation. UC4 specialized in workload automation and job scheduling.

On August 13, 2012, UC4 announced the acquisition by EQT , a private equity group in Northern Europe. Subject to regulatory approval, EQT is likely to purchase the outstanding shares in the Carlyle Group in the fourth quarter of 2012.

The company UC4 Software changed its name to Automic Software on July 1, 2013. The new brand should strengthen the corporate identity and support international growth.

In the second quarter of 2014, Automic completed the takeover of the French company ORSYP, thereby further expanding its presence, especially in France and Canada .

Automic Software supports over 2,700 customers worldwide, including Comcast , ebay , E.ON , Migros , Swisscom , T-Systems and TUI . The company's partnerships include HP , IBM , Microsoft , Oracle and SAP .

On December 1, 2016, CA Technologies announced its intention to acquire Automic for $ 636 million. After being taken over by CA Technologies, these were taken over by Broadcom in 2018.

Strategies and products

On March 15, 2011, UC4 launched the ONE Automation strategy, which combines six areas of automation: Application Release and Virtualization Management, Application Process Automation, Job Scheduling / Workload Automation, Managed File Transfer (MFT), Run Book Automation. The main products include:

  • UC4 Automation Engine for Business Automation, IT Automation, Cloud Automation and Context-Aware Automation
  • UC4 Decision to record events and monitor processes
