Avraham Nir

Avraham Nir (born October 13, 1962 in Rishon LeZion ) is an Israeli diplomat and has been consul general in Guangzhou since 2009 .

Nir studied history and East Asian studies at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem from 1986 to 1989 and received a Bachelor of Arts (BA) for this.

In 1991 he started working in the Israeli Foreign Ministry . In 1994 he became Deputy Consul General in Shanghai . In 1997 he became Deputy Head of the Diplomatic Mission at the Israeli Embassy in Bangkok and Deputy Permanent Observer for Israel at the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific .

During his further diplomatic career, Nir became Israeli ambassador to Nepal in 2000 , Israeli ambassador to Vietnam in 2003 with simultaneous accreditation as a non-resident ambassador for Laos , and in 2007 Israeli ambassador to Cameroon with simultaneous accreditation as non-resident ambassador for Gabon , the Republic of the Congo , Equatorial Guinea and the Central African Republic . In 2009 he became the first Israeli consul general in Guangzhou. Nir is responsible for the provinces of Guangdong , Fujian and Hainan as well as the Guangxi Autonomous Region .

Nir is married and has two children.
