In the Avro 538 is a single-seat biplanes - aircraft of the British manufacturer Avro .

This aircraft, which was only built in one copy, was most likely made from parts of the Avro 531A, a machine whose basic components were made by Avro, but were not assembled into an aircraft (see also Avro 531 ).

The differences to the basic pattern 531 were wings of the same span, normal wing bracing and a larger distance between the upper wing and the fuselage.

The 538 was originally intended as a racing aircraft. But it quickly became apparent that the main spar was too weak for this purpose.

The machine was used as a liaison aircraft from May 1919 to September 1920 by a subsidiary of Avro, Avro Transport Co.
