The steam locomotive series kkStB 70 was a freight train - Tender Locomotive series of kkStB whose locomotives originally from the Empress Elisabeth Railway came (KEB).

history

The first eight locomotives were delivered to the Kaiserin Elisabeth-Bahn in 1873 by the Sächsische Maschinenfabrik in Chemnitz with the serial numbers 642 to 650. They were named LIETZEN, RADSTADT, TAUERN, WERFEN, LOFER, ZELL, LEND, ABTENAU and WÖRGL . The TAUERN received in 1873 at the World Exhibition in Vienna an honorary diploma.

Another 16 machines were delivered in 1874 and 1875 by the Austrian manufacturers Wiener Neustädter Lokomotivfabrik and Lokomotivfabrik Floridsdorf .

It had an internal frame and internal control and was assigned to series V by the KEB  .

After the nationalization of the KEB, the kkStB classified it as row  70 . After 1888 they received new boilers. The table shows the dimensions of the new boilers, which differ in details.

After the First World War, two copies remained with the BBÖ , which they retired by 1936 . The ČSD received five units, which they classified as series  402.0 and which were in use until the 1940s . Some machines also came to the CFR .
