The BBC Südost was a football club in the Berlin district of Kreuzberg .

history

The BBC was founded in 1950 by former members and players of the East Berlin club SG Union Oberschöneweide (predecessor of today's 1. FC Union Berlin ). They had fled to the western part of Berlin because Union had been delegated from the Berlin City League to the GDR Oberliga and the club had also been denied participation in the final round of the German Championship . The club SC Union 06 Berlin , newly founded by the “refugees”, was used by the then Berlin Football Association (VBB) as the post stadium in Moabitassigned. That was too far for many members who lived in Kreuzberg near the border , and also for some of the viewers who had come from Köpenick . Therefore, the BBC was founded, which found its home in Wrangelstrasse (the dreaded "Wrangelritze"), which is close to the border .

Things picked up quickly and by the mid-1950s they played in the then second-rate amateur league (three years). The real high began in 1966 when Tasmania Berlin was relegated from the Bundesliga . Quite a few Tasmania players retired. So also goalkeeper Klaus Basikow , who became a coach at the BBC. After three years in the A-class, he was promoted to the amateur league again in 1969.

In 1973 the BBC Berlin amateur league champions and took part in the German amateur championship against TSV Büdelsdorf (1: 4 and 2: 3). Previously, the typical “Berliner Schnauze” had been declared that they would be played “barefoot and three-digit”. In the same year the club was promoted to the Regionalliga Berlin (at that time the second highest class in Germany after the Bundesliga). During these years the BBC also released a large number of players for Berlin national teams.

With the introduction of the two-pronged 2. Bundesliga in 1974 one was transferred to the newly founded football league Berlin after the season as a table ninth (of 12 teams) . After the departure of coach Basikov at the end of the 1970s, things slowly declined. In 1990 the BBC was dissolved.
