The BKK Essanelle was part of the German statutory health insurance from the group of company health insurance funds . It was open nationwide and had its seat in Augsburg , the main administration was in Düsseldorf .
history
The company was founded on July 1, 2002 as Essanelle's health insurance company. Numerous mergers with company health insurance funds followed. BKK MAN Augsburg was merged with BKK Essanelle since October 1st, 2004. BKK Hutschenreuther AG became BAVARIA BKK through a merger with other Bavarian health insurance companies in 1996, which in turn became BKK Essanelle through a merger in January 2007.
It was integrated into the new Deutsche BKK on January 1, 2015 (merged with Barmer GEK since January 1, 2017 ).

The registered office of the BKK Essanelle was Augsburg. The head office was in Düsseldorf. Over 800 employees (including around 25 trainees) advised around 430,000 insured persons in the 20 branches throughout Germany, including around 125,000 children and spouses who were also insured free of charge.
The original contribution autonomy of the health insurance funds was abolished with the introduction of the health fund. Since January 1, 2009, the statutory contribution rate has been set at 14.9% (up to June 30, 2009 15.5%).
The director of the BKK Essanelle was Guido Frings. The board of directors consisted of 18 honorary members, half of whom were employer and half of the insured.
