BOON is an Austrian hard rock / groove metal band. Their music is a mix of metal and rock .

Band history

Boon was founded in 1998 in Vienna by Wolfgang Pendl, Zavisha Blagojevic, Stefan, Dragan and Johannes. In 1999 she recorded her first demo Boon . A year later she won 1st place in the finals of the International Live Awards , where she played in Vienna's Prater in front of 10,000 spectators.

In 2001 and 2002 the band released the demos Boom Room and One . In 2003, the indie label Burnside Records signed Boon. In 2004, their first EP, Romantic 42, was released in Austria and Germany. In 2006 the first album Beauty Is a Sign of Weakness was released by Burnside Records.

Up until 2010 Boon played some major concerts in Austria, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Hungary, among others as support for bands like Sepultura , Clawfinger , Knorkator , Supermax , The Dillinger Escape Plan , Emil Bulls , Ektomorf , AC / DC and The Sorrow .

In 2010 the album The Almighty Love was released on the Noisehead Records label ; it contains the first two singles Right Now and Love Raider . Furthermore, a completely new single, What I Am Living For , was released exclusively digitally.

At the Amadeus Austrian Music Award 2010 the band was nominated in two categories, namely “best song” and “best hard & heavy act”.

At the Amadeus Austrian Music Award 2019 the band was nominated in the category “Best Hard & Heavy Act”.

style

BOON plays versatile music between hard rock and groove metal with versatile influences of guitar-oriented music. Was influenced by BOON u. a. by bands like Iron Maiden , Metallica , Converge , Neurosis , Machine Head , Queen , Foo Fighters and Prong . The texts deal with a wide range of topics, including social criticism , religion , love and nature .
