Bacuag ( Filipino : Bayan ng Bacuag ) is a Filipino municipality in the province of Surigao del Norte , Administrative Region XIII, Caraga. It has 14,486 inhabitants (August 1, 2015 census) who lived in nine barangays . It is classified as a fifth income class community in the Philippines and as partially urbanized .
Bacuag is located on the coast of the Philippine Sea , approx. 46 km southeast of Surigao City and can be reached via the Marhalika Highway . Their neighboring communities are Placer in the northwest, Gigaquit in the southeast, Tubod and Alegria in the west.
Ariel Galido , Apostolic Prefect of the Marshall Islands, was born in Bacuag.
