Mainit ( Filipino : Bayan ng Mainit ) is a Filipino municipality in the province of Surigao del Norte , Administrative Region XIII, Caraga. It has 26,741 inhabitants (August 1, 2015 census) who lived in 21 barangays . It is classified as a fourth income class community in the Philippines and as partially urbanized .
Mainit is located on the banks of Mainit Lake , approx. 46 km south of Surigao City and can be reached via the Marhalika Highway . Their neighboring communities are Placer , Tubod in the east, Alegria in the southeast, Malimono in the west.
