Alegria ( Filipino : Bayan ng Alegria ) is a Filipino municipality in the province of Surigao del Norte , Administrative Region XIII, Caraga. It has 16,011 inhabitants (August 1, 2015 census) who lived in 12 barangays . It is classified as a fifth income class community in the Philippines and as partially urbanized .
Alegria is located on the shores of Mainit Lake , approx. 47 km south of Surigao City and is accessible via the Marhalika Highway . Their neighboring communities are Tubod and Mainit in the north, Gigaquit in the east, and Bacuag in the northeast.
