action

Jerry takes part in the Second Gulf War as a US Marine . He later starts a family and has three children. After a few years, Jerry was called up again as a reservist; he serves in Afghanistan and Iraq .

Jerry was dishonorably discharged from the army for causing a massacre of civilians by his unit. Jerry has suffered from PTSD since his return . Jerry lives in a trailer with his family and earns little money. He often argues with his again pregnant wife Nora. Jerry loses his job at a gas station after being accused of stealing gas. When he finds out that his boss, a buddy and his wife are taking advantage of him and betraying him, he freaks out. In a short-circuit act, he shoots Nora and his two sons. The youngest, Celine, survives only because of a jam and her unconditional love brings him to his senses. Jerry and his daughter flee to a small town, where he finds a temporary job as a kitchen helper in the restaurant of the attractive waitress Oli. Jerry and his widowed boss get closer, later he even moves from the hotel to Oli's house with Celina. Jerry finds a friend in the person of Sheriff Max, who is also a veteran. It turns out that Max finds it just as difficult to process his war experiences. Meanwhile, Celine clings to the past, takes refuge in naive prayers, and hopes that one day God will bring her mother and brothers back. Little did she know that she's constantly renewing Jerry's trauma and making a new beginning difficult. One day Max learns about Jerry's past on the TV news. In an argument with Max, who wants to help him even though he has recognized him, Max also pleads for God's help. It becomes clear that Jerry blames religions for the war and all the senseless murders. His last remnant of self-control collapses and the tragedy takes its terrible course. Jerry knocks down Max, who later succumbs to the injuries. Jerry tries to save Celine from doom. Jerry drops his daughter off with her aunt and wants to continue to escape by car. Shortly afterwards he collides with another car. Celine runs after her father and is hit by a car and fatally injured. There is a flashback in the trailer where Jerry and his daughter look into each other's eyes. The camera fades out.
