The Baunatal-Großenritte train station (also known as Großenritte ) is a train station in the Großenritte district of Baunatal , which has been used as a stopping point for a museum railway since 1972 and as the terminus of line 5 of the Kasseler Verkehrs-Gesellschaft (KVG) since 1995 .

history

Platform of the Hessencourrier

The Großenritte station was opened with the Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe Kleinbahnhof - Schauenburg - Elgershausen section of the Kassel – Naumburg railway on October 29, 1903. The client was the Kassel-Naumburg Railway (KNE).

Passenger traffic ceased on September 4, 1977. The freight west of Altenbauna - and thus also in Großenritte - ended May 31, the 1,991th

A museum railway has been running from Wilhelmshöhe to Naumburg since 1972, run by the Hessencourrier e. V. ???? ”, which also stops at the Großenritte train station. There are steam trains used.

Following the example of the so-called " Karlsruhe Model ", changing lines of the Kassel tram , which switch to the railway network, have been running on the section from Altenbauna Kleingartenverein to Großenritte Bahnhof since May 27, 1995 . In this context, two small halls were built a little south of the Großenritte train station , in which vehicles are parked.

Furnishing

The Großenritte train station still has its red-gray reception building , which is now inaccessible to the public and has been sold to private customers, but is a listed building.

Today, three tracks run through the Großenritte station, all of which are equipped with a platform. The slightly offset side platform ( platform 1) serves the Hessencourrier's trains in both directions. The trains on line 5 run from the island platform specially created for them, arriving at platform 2, using the newly created reversing loop and then, after a short break, departing from the other side of the platform (platform 3).

Today's operation

Today, line 5 at the Großenritte train station usually runs every quarter of an hour via Altenbauna and downtown Kassel to Holländische Strasse in the north-west of Kassel . In the early morning hours and in the late afternoon, individual repeater trains on line 2 are added. On selected weekends, the Hessencourrier stops in Großenritte, which runs between Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe and Naumburg. There are connections with the regional bus line 152 in the direction of Naumburg and with line 61 (StadtBus Baunatal). Line 56 also operates as a minibus in the direction of Fuldabrück-Dörnhagen .
