The Erzhausen station (also: Erzhäuser Bücherbahnhof ) is a station of the Rhein-Main S-Bahn in Erzhausen . Its listed station building was spun off from the railway property and now houses the community library.

Architecture and history

In the years 1843–46 the Main-Neckar-Bahn was built. The Erzhausen stop was set up in 1888 .

The station building is a two-storey station building that was erected in 1924 - based on draft plans from 1901 (according to other information: 1903).

The building is a well-designed building cube in historical forms. At the southwest corner, next to the former dispatcher room , there is a semicircular stair tower . The truss in the former waiting room is remarkable .

Due to its unique appearance in the area of the Main-Neckar-Bahn, the building is a cultural monument for architectural and historical reasons.

By 1997 the Frankfurt - Darmstadt railway line was expanded. Since the RMV was introduced , the S-Bahn line S3 has been running every half hour in the Taunus to Bad Soden via Langen and Frankfurt or to Darmstadt . The travel time to Frankfurt is approx. 25 minutes. The travel time to Darmstadt is approx. 10 minutes. Class 423 railcars are now used on the S3 S-Bahn line .

The old station building has not been used by Deutsche Bahn since 1997 . A separate, barrier-free platform was built for the S-Bahn . In the course of the expansion work, the entire forecourt was renewed and a park + ride car park was set up. Since 2001 the community of Erzhausen has had the old station building - which it acquired from Deutsche Bahn - converted into a community library. The library's holdings include around 20,000 items that can be borrowed, including books, daily newspapers, magazines, CDs and DVDs. In addition, exhibitions and various other events take place in the library. The architecture office Männle, Darmstadt planned the conversion to a library.

The Erzhausen wedding room has been located in the Bücherbahnhof since 2016 .
