The Gmund (Tegernsee) train station is the train station of the Upper Bavarian community of Gmund am Tegernsee in the Miesbach district . The station is a through station on the shaftlach – Tegernsee railway line and has two platform tracks. The railway line and the station are owned by the Tegernsee-Bahn Betriebsgesellschaft (TBG). The station is served by around 40 trains of the Bavarian Oberlandbahn (BOB) every day. There are also the Moosrain and Finsterwald stops in Gmund, as well as the closed St. Quirin stop, which are also on the Schaftlach – Tegernsee railway line.
location
Gmund train station is located west of the center of the municipality of Gmund am Tegernsee. Wiesseer Strasse, on which the reception building and the bus station are also located, runs north of the tracks. The station building has the address Wiesseer Straße 11. West of the reception building, the bus station with the train station forms the central transfer point within the community. There is a larger car park for commuters to the east of the building. On the other side of the street, opposite the reception building, there is a residential area. In the south, on the other hand, is the former loading ramp of the train station, which can be reached via a level crossing further to the west. Further south, the Mangfall forms the drain of the Tegernsee in a meadow .
The station is now a through station on the Tegernseebahn ( VzG 9560), a single-track, non-electrified branch line . The station is located at km 7.7. The railway line is managed by Deutsche Bahn as course book route 956.
history
The Gmund am Tegernsee train station was built in 1883 as the terminus of the Schaftlach – Gmund railway line . When the station opened, the reception building was also inaugurated. In 1902 the railway line was extended to Tegernsee , so that the station lost its importance as a terminus. All the facilities required for railway operations were relocated from Gmund to Tegernsee. In 1949 the locomotive shed on the eastern edge of the station area was demolished and replaced by a bus garage. In 1980 the track plan was simplified by dismantling several side tracks, at the same time all signals were dismantled and replaced by trapezoidal panels . The operation is since about 2000 on an electronic interlocking of the type SICAS S5 of Siemens and Alcatel remotely controlled so that the station is unoccupied today.

The station building is a two-storey building with a protruding flat gable roof . The southern side facing the tracks is characterized by a gable risalit . Window and door frames play with forms of the neo-renaissance . The facility is a listed building . There is a waiting room in the building.
Gmund train station has a central platform , which is located between tracks 1 and 2, with a length of 120 meters and a height of 76 centimeters. Track 3 is a stump track in the direction of Schaftlach and was used for freight traffic, as the track leads to the loading ramp opposite the reception building. The former wooden goods shed is located next to the reception building. The platform can be reached from the station building via a level crossing and a ramp.
traffic
Today, trains of the Bavarian Oberlandbahn stop every hour, running from Munich via Holzkirchen and Schaftlach to Tegernsee . The trains are driven with railcars of the type Integral S5D95 or Bombardier Talent . In addition, individual amplifier trains run in commuter and excursion traffic, so that every half-hourly service is offered on the route in the load direction.
