The Jatznick station is a separation station in the municipality of the same name in the Mecklenburg- Western Pomerania district of Western Pomerania-Greifswald . It is located at route kilometer 142.9 of the Angermünde-Stralsund Railway and is the starting point of a branch line to Ueckermünde .

Location and structure

The station is about two kilometers north of the Jatznicker village center at the intersection of the main line Angermünde – Stralsund with the federal road 109 and the state road 32. The branch line to Ueckermünde goes off the line to the north.

In addition to the reception building, the system includes various other structures. The former two signal boxes have been dismantled as part of the signal box centralization ( ESTW ). There was a siding for the former VEB Ziegelkombinat Ueckermünde . The station has had three platform tracks since the branch line opened, but the connecting platform to Ueckermünde was closed again in the 2000s.

The station, including two railway workers' houses and a station shed, is a listed building .

history

The station was opened on March 16, 1863 with the commissioning of the section from Angermünde to Anklam . Initially, two pairs of passenger trains and a freight train ran from the Szczecin station in Berlin to Anklam and back again.

In 1882 the Prussian state parliament decided to build a branch line to Ueckermünde. It was opened on October 15, 1884. The station received a separate station section for this.

In the 2000s, as part of the planned increase in the line speed of the Angermünde-Stralsund Railway and its integration into the Anklam electronic signal box , which is remote-controlled from the operations center in Berlin, the connecting platform to Ueckermünde was abandoned and the other two platforms were increased to 55 centimeters , converted to exterior platforms and relocated to the north.

Connection

The station is served every two hours by a regional express line operated by DB Regio Nordost . There are direct train connections in the direction of Stralsund , Ueckermünde, Pasewalk , Bützow and Berlin.
