Københavns Lufthavn, Kastrup in the district Kastrup is a tunnel station of the Copenhagen-Kastrup Airport , the international airport of the Danish capital Copenhagen . The station abbreviation is Cph , as is the airport's IATA abbreviation (CPH) . Colloquially, also among railway workers, the station is usually called Kastrup , although this is also the name of a metro station 1 km to the north.
The station is used by around 20,000 travelers every day. The entire station system is located below the terminal with 2 tracks on two side platforms that run in an east-west direction along the Öresund Railway . Platforms and walls were clad with fine types of stone. The station is also equipped with specially designed lights and signs. The Öresundzug between Copenhagen and Malmö and several InterCity lines stop at the tracks . The station is a border station with Sweden.
A junction from the train station leads to the Klargøringscenter Kastrup (Kgc) depot, about 2 km south-east on the Öresund coast behind the airport , where the intercity trains start.
To the north of the station there is a bypass line , which runs mostly above ground and directs freight trains of the Öresund Railway around the tunnel station.
history
The station was opened on September 27, 1998 as part of the Öresund link between Copenhagen and Malmö , which was still under construction at the time .
Transport links
The train station is directly connected to Terminal 3 of the airport by escalators. The metro station Lufthavnen on the M2 line , which is an elevated railway at right angles to the railway, can be reached by lift or stairs .
There are transfer options to city and long-distance bus lines.
