The Lauffen (Neckar) Station is a transit station at kilometer 40.5 of the Franconia Railway . From 1896 to 1995, the station was the starting point for the Zabergäubahn to Leonbronn, which has now been closed .
history
On July 25, 1848, Lauffen was connected to the Württemberg railway network by extending the northern line from Bietigheim to Heilbronn .
On August 28, 1896, the Royal Württemberg State Railways (KWSt.E.) opened operations on the then still narrow-gauge Zabergäubahn with a gauge of 750 millimeters from Lauffen to Güglingen (extended in 1901 to Leonbronn ).
In 1954 the station received a new reception building . It was designed by Emil Schuh , to whose design the Heilbronn main station from 1958 goes back. With the tile-covered saddle roof , a generously glazed front and a canopy made of prestressed concrete , the architect took up various contemporary elements.
On July 25, 1986, passenger traffic on the Zabergäubahn was discontinued, and freight traffic followed on September 25, 1994 . The track in the area of the Lauffen train station has been interrupted since 1995 and the line has officially closed .
The reception building from 1954 was demolished around the turn of the millennium and replaced by several commercial buildings. Among other things, the signal box , the Lauffener Citizens' Office and the local library are housed in the complex.
Rail operations
Until December 2019, the DB Regio Baden-Württemberg operated regional trains from Stuttgart via Lauffen to Heilbronn and on to Osterburken and Lauda. Individual RE trains to Würzburg stopped in Lauffen on the edge of the day.
By awarding the Stuttgart networks to Abellio and Go-Ahead , the RB trains to Osterburken have been operated by Abellio and the RE trains to Würzburg by Go-Ahead since December 2019; in the second expansion phase, Lauffen will have a direct connection to Tübingen and Mannheim. Due to the delivery difficulties at Bombardier, the RE10 between Heilbronn and Stuttgart will continue to be operated by DB Regio on behalf of Abellio between December 2019 and June 2020.
Lauffener Bahnhof has 3 platform tracks. Track 1 is on the house platform , tracks 2 and 3 share a central platform . Track 1 used to be used by the Zabergäubahn trains to Leonbronn . Today it functions exclusively as a passing track. Track 2 serves the regional trains in the direction of Heilbronn / Osterburken / Mannheim / Würzburg. From platform 3 the trains go in the opposite direction to Stuttgart / Tübingen. The platforms are not barrier-free .
The Lauffen (Neckar) Station is in the station Category List of DB Station & Service grouped into the category. 4
