List of train stations in Austria |
The Salzburg Mülln-Altstadt train station has been in operation since 2009 in the Austrian city of Salzburg on the Rosenheim – Salzburg line .
history
The opening of further train stations and stops along the Salzburg Hbf – Rosenheim railway line was discussed since the planning of the S-Bahn Salzburg project was completed, the focus of which was on the section between Salzburg Hbf and Freilassing station , as this is conveniently located around populous districts of Salzburg to be connected to local public transport. Therefore, in December 2009, the Salzburg Mülln-Altstadt station and the Salzburg Aiglhof station went into operation. The Salzburg Liefering stop in the direction of Freilassing went into operation in 2014.
Connection
The Salzburg Mülln-Altstadt train station is exactly on the border of the Salzburg districts of Mülln and Lehen . The term old town in the name of the stop comes from the fact that the old town of Salzburg is within walking distance (approx. 15 minutes on foot), so that tourists arriving here do not need to use additional means of transport.
On the east side, the platform changes directly into a newly built bridge over the Salzach with a walkway, so that passengers at the stop are also able to walk from the Elisabeth-Vorstadt district . On the west side, the train station is near the Salzburg State Hospital and is connected to the trolleybus network (lines 4 and 7) and the bus network (line 24).
Track systems
The stop has a central platform and two platform tracks. The trains in the direction of Salzburg Hbf run on track 1, in the direction of Freilassing on track 2. Next to track 2 there is a third track, which is only used by passing trains.
traffic
The S-Bahn line S3 of the S-Bahn Salzburg has been running from Golling-Abtenau via Salzburg Hbf and Freilassing to Bad Reichenhall since the beginning . Since the timetable change in December 2017, the S-Bahn line S2 has also been running from Straßwalchen via Salzburg Hbf to Freilassing. The stop is also served by some regional trains that run from Salzburg Hbf to Germany or in the opposite direction from Freilassing to Upper Austria ( Wels , Linz , Braunau ). Individual journeys on the S-Bahn line S2 continue on Sundays and public holidays from Freilassing as the S4 to Berchtesgaden .
