The Schiltach Station is a train station at the Baden Kinzig Valley Railway . From 1892 to 1991 it was a branch station for the Schiltach – Schramberg railway line . It is located north of the Kinzig, northwest of the city of Schiltach .

history

On November 4, 1886, the Baden Kinzig Valley Railway from Wolfach to Schiltach was extended, and the Württemberg Schiltach - Freudenstadt line was put into operation at the same time . This borderline position becomes clear from the kilometers of the route: 14.2 km from Hausach and 54.8 km from Eutingen im Gäu .

In 1959, the line to Schramberg was closed for passenger traffic , and in 1990 for freight traffic as well .

On the route to Schramberg there was the station “Schiltach Stadt”. Since the cessation of passenger traffic to Schramberg, there is the “Schiltach Mitte” stop at kilometer 54.1 of the Kinzig Valley Railway .

Investments

In the early 1970s , the station had three through tracks with platform edges on a house platform and an island platform , which was reached at the same level. There was another continuous siding in the north and several blunt siding and loading tracks with side and head ramps in the west .

At the eastern end of the station, between the two lines, there was a single engine shed with a turntable . There was a water tower attached . The buildings were demolished. Today there is a parking lot there , on which the position of the turntable and the water tower are marked in the pavement.

There was also a siding to the Hansgrohe plant north of the station .

Today (2017) there is still a central platform with level access. While the train station in the east is bounded by the Schiltacher Tunnel , the facilities in the west have been significantly reduced. It used to be four-track over the Heubach in the west of the station, today the first switch is east of the Heubach. A second, no longer used track trough over the Heubach is still available in 2017.

The station building south of the tracks is still there, but is no longer used for rail purposes. The former goods shed is also still there.

Mechanical signal boxes have existed since 1904 . Signal box 1 stood at the west end of the central platform, signal box 2 at the east end of the station north of the tracks. Both signal boxes were in operation until 1988. Since then there has been a push-button interlocking, which was replaced by an electronic interlocking in August 2014. The latter is controlled remotely from Freudenstadt Hbf.

While signal box 1 was demolished, the building of signal box 2 is still there.

traffic

The passenger traffic on the Kinzigtalbahn was taken over on December 12, 2004 by the Ortenau-S-Bahn GmbH (OSB). Since then there have been hourly trips from Freudenstadt Hbf to Offenburg . The German Bahn AG continues to operate the station and associated infrastructure.

According to the schedule, passenger trains do not cross here.

monument

The bridge over the Kinzig from the station to Schramberg is still there. A Uerdingen rail bus was set up there for years . In the meantime it has been set up closer to the train station than the Schiltach railway station .
